Lohri Celebrations



Lohri is one of the festivals of Punjab but majorly celebrated in Himachal, Delhi, and Haryana as well. It falls on 13th of January every year. The festival is celebrated in the evening and is marked by fun and gaiety. It marks for the New Year in Punjab. People dance and sing songs. They have connected the festival of Lohri to Dulla Bhatti, who was a robber but rescues many girls from the slave market. On this day people show their gratitude towards him and enjoy the evening.

The festival is celebrated by world-wide Punjabis. On this day people wear their traditional clothes. While practising their rituals they pray for everyone's health and wealth. It marks an important day for farmers as well as it is also considered as a harvest festival.
