How Can We Deal With COVID-19 Outbreak?

Coronavirus Disease (COVID19), is a disease caused by a type of coronavirus called the  SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ). Since late 2019, it has caused the COVID-19 pandemic. The outbreak started with meat trading marketing in Wuhan, China.

To date, around 197 countries have been affected by this virus, and it has caused more than 18,000 deaths worldwide. Italy and China are among those countries worst hit by coronavirus.

La Prisma, Builders in Zirakpur, wants to apprise you all, of this virus, and present you with all the facts that will enable you to take better care of yourself and your family.

SARS-CoV-2 is a kind of coronavirus virus that infects bats, humans, and some other mammals. This virus has two strains. One such strain, SARS-CoV caused the SARS outbreak of 2002-2004. Since then, only a small number of cases occurred due to laboratory research and accidents possibly. These infections were due to animal-to-human transmission.

The other strain is SARS-CoV-2, which is responsible for the COVID19 pandemic. The transmission of this virus is through person-to-person contact, and it spreads like a wild forest fire. One can catch this virus from an infected person if he/she breathes in the droplets, from coughs or sneezes of that person. You can get this disease even by unknowingly touching the infected surfaces, and then touching your eyes, mouth, or nose. According to recent research, this virus needs a human body to live on, and has a surface life of about 12 hours.

The symptoms of the virus include cold, cough, common flu, extreme tiredness, and breathing problems. Old people and anyone who is having critical medical conditions like diabetes and asthma are at higher risk.

In March 2020, WHO’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom, declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic, considering the number of cases affected by this virus was increasing rapidly. He suggested that by taking proper precautions, practicing social distancing, adopting good hygiene, and maintaining lockdown, we can surely stop the spread of this virus. Since India is a densely populated country, how it confronts this situation will have a very strong effect on the pandemic. Follow the orders by Government authorities of a curfew/ lockdown for the next 3 weeks. Here are a few precautions, mentioned by WHO.

• Go out, only to buy necessities or medicines.

• Clean your homes properly with disinfectants.

• Wash your hands at regular intervals, with soap or use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

• Wear a mask, only if you are sick or taking care of a sick person.

• Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes.

• Practice social-distancing.

• Say no! If anyone asks you to come out for roaming randomly.

• Take proper rest if you are feeling sick.

• Do get yourself a complete check-up if you have traveled back from an infected place.

The cases of COVID-19 worldwide are more than 400,000 and still increasing. If not controlled, it can have serious repercussions around the globe. Each one of us can assist the government and the world to mitigate this situation by staying at our homes and taking all precautions.
